This amazingly beautiful song proves that Bert is as good as he ever was; I’ve tabbed
the whole tune note for note (as best I could) because he does show much variation from
verse to verse both in the notes he plays and the rhythm, which follows the lyrics. The
verses are labelled, and there are also 2 great violin solos by Dave Swarbrick. There is a
bar of 5/8 during the first violin break which I’m pretty sure is a mistake on Berts part;
it certainly seems to phase Dave a little! I tabbed it as is, however. Watch for the bars of
different lengths, the asterisks are a guide to the beats and I’ve labelled the bars which
are made of 8th notes. You’ll want to work with the record with this one. Hope you enjoy
